Safe Libraries Initiative

The Safe Libraries Initiative was created in early 2026 with the goal of making Boston Public Library more resistant and responsive to ICE presence in our neighborhoods and City. Our Safe Libraries Committee -- made up of volunteer BLU and AFSCME 1526 members -- have been working to create documentation and workflows to support that goal.
